Harajuku Day LA #101, Style: Tenshi Kaiwai

Harajuku Day is a free public fashion meet-up that’s usually hosted on the third Saturday of the month. I’ve been attending practically since moving to Cali and attended my first own back in 2014.

Their April 2026 gathering was recently held at the Little Tokyo Galleria in Los Angeles with the theme of Tenshi Kaiwai.

Let’s talk about Tenshi Kaiwai. Tenshi Kaiwai (天使界隈) is a Japanese Subculture that’s called “mizuiro” (light blue) or “Cyber Angelcore” The style centers on a light blue, white, and grey color palette, featuring comfortable, oversized apparel and blends soft,, ethereal, and angelic aesthetics with futuristic Y2K/Y3K elements.

The origin of Tenshi Kaiwai emerged in 2022-2023 and it gained popularity among young people in Japan especially homebodies focusing on that comfort while incorporating a dreamy, tech-integrated aesthetic.

This is a good in-between if you love oversized clothing but still love to wear light colors.

I’ve began to take more fashion photos this year and here are the ones I took:
