Day 2 at Adobe MAX: When Imagination Becomes Algo-Magic

“Tools don’t make stories — storytellers do.” – Brandon Baum

Adobe Max, Day 2

That line echoed in my mind all day from the opening keynote from day 2 of Adobe Max. Because even as the tech gets smarter, it’s still you — the creator — who gives it meaning. Day 2 at Adobe MAX was all about bridging art + algorithm: how to explore, experiment, and tell stories faster, deeper, and more emotionally.

Below is my honest, human take on what I watched, what inspired me, and what to do next for your creative business (or personal brand).

🚀 Morning Sessions: Expand the Way You Create

Creativity first. Always. That’s the biggest message of the morning. Several sessions reinforced a mindset shift: stop defending your comfort zone, and start pushing into new tools, styles, and ideas.

  • I heard about the new and improved Behance Pro where it’s about how you “line up new clients” — it’s not just a gallery, but a platform connecting creatives and no platform fees when you get paid for your work.
  • Partnerships were front and center — like Adobe connecting with Creative Mornings to integrate more in-person creative community energy.
  • I especially loved the Brandon Baum session. He reminded us: “No two creatives are the same.” What becomes your final outcome will surprise you, if you stay open.
  • He also leaned into Adobe Firefly (their AI generative tool) that “sprouts” multiple ideas in minutes.

If you ever felt like “I’m not creative enough,” that’s a lie. Tools like Firefly just let you accelerate your creativity, not replace it.

🔍 Adobe Sneaks: Glimpses of the Future

The crowd favorite every year — Adobe Sneaks — showcased new, experimental tools that could redefine how we work as creatives. These prototypes might not be live yet, but they’re proof that the creative future is not going anywhere.

Here are the highlights that had everyone buzzing:

  • Project Corrective AI — A mind-blowing feature that changes the emotional tone of a recorded voice. Imagine turning a flat delivery into something confident, energetic, or soft — all after recording.
  • Firefly Audio & Soundtrack Generator — Now Firefly can generate custom music and narration that matches your project’s mood. You can even choose tone and emotion — perfect for content creators and storytellers.
  • Project Frame Forward — Edit one frame of a video, and the edits automatically ripple through the rest. No more masking frame by frame.
  • Project Trace Erase — Remove unwanted objects — and their shadows and reflections — instantly. Think of it as a smarter version of Content-Aware Fill.
  • Project Light Touch — Relight your image as if it were 3D. You can dynamically change the lighting direction, intensity, and depth — game-changing for photographers and 3D artists.
  • Custom Models in Firefly — Train Firefly with your own creative style using just a few reference images. Combine your models with Adobe’s to create something that truly feels like you.

These Sneaks proved one thing: Adobe isn’t just making software smarter — it’s making it more personal.

🧠 Mark Rober + The Power of Emotion

Inventor and YouTuber Mark Rober closed the keynote with a reminder that hit home: “Facts don’t create the shift — feelings do.” His talk was all about ah-ha moments — those visceral emotional reactions that make people laugh, cry, or take action.

It connected beautifully to how AI can generate ideas, but emotion is still what makes your story unforgettable.

💡 What I’m Taking Away From Day 2

  • Explore new things. Try different tools, experiment, and push beyond your usual creative limits.
  • AI isn’t replacing you. It’s an accelerator — a way to amplify your creativity, not automate it.
  • Iterate quickly. Tools like Firefly make it easier to explore multiple ideas before choosing your favorite.
  • Lead with emotion. Whether through design, storytelling, or art, connection is always your real superpower.

💬 Final Thoughts

Day 2 of Adobe MAX reminded me why we create in the first place. It’s not about keeping up with every update or chasing every new tool. It’s about storytelling that feels human.

AI might help us move faster — but the heart behind it all still comes from us.
