Olive Young Festa LA took over the Los Angeles Convention Center from August 14th to August 16, 2026 for its first U.S. edition, running alongside KCON LA. I only went on Saturday, August 15th. By the time the weekend wrapped, more than 100,000 people had come through and Saturday was the day everyone decided to show up at once.
I’ll be honest, I went in more curious than anything. I’d heard “Olive Young” thrown around constantly in K-beauty circles, watched the brand open its first two stores in Pasadena and LA earlier this year, but I’d never actually stepped inside one. I wanted to understand what the hype was actually about, not just scroll past it. Same with the wave of Korean beauty brands everyone keeps naming. These are the ones that show up in every “what’s in my skincare routine” video but I hadn’t tried myself. The Festa felt like the fastest way to get a real answer instead of another algorithm-fed opinion.
So Saturday morning, I headed to the convention center expecting a beauty event. What I didn’t expect was the first test of the day: getting inside.
The Check-In Line
Here’s the part nobody mentions when they hype up a beauty festival: you have to get in first. The line snaked through Gilbert Lindsay Plaza in switchbacks, and by the time I found the end of it, I couldn’t even see the entrance anymore. It took about an hour and a half to go from “I’m here” to “I’m inside.” August in LA usually means the sun is working against you too, but I lucked out at the beginning because it wasn’t the brutal, sweating-through-your-outfit kind of heat I braced for yet.
What made the wait bearable was everyone around me. This wasn’t a line full of annoyed people checking their watches. It was genuinely social. I ended up talking to the people around me some of the time to get an idea of how the day before went or those going to KCON for the concerts.
However, if you’re planning to go next year, get there early. A 1-2 hour wait to check in isn’t a small thing to plan your day around, especially if you have a list of booths you want to hit before they run out of samples.
Peak Day: The Stamp Rally
Saturday was built around one goal: hit all the zones, get the stamps, walk away with the goodie bag. Easier said than done when every booth is designed to make you stop and swatch something.
I made my way through Eqqualberry, ReJuran, Menokin, Fwee, Probioderm, and Kaja to fill out my card. Eqqualberry and Fwee were the two that actually lived up to it. Both are brands I own and use already but it’s still rare that a booth in person matches the buzz.
By the time I traded my completed card for the goodie bag, I wasn’t expecting much. Mostly everything inside was full-size, only a few were sample-size, and advertised around $109 in value. Unpacking it in real time, that number felt conservative.

End of Day: Reflection
Before I left, I stopped for a skin analysis. It was one of those on-site scans that tells you what’s actually going on under the surface instead of what you assume from the mirror. The results were reassuring more than anything: overall, my skin was in good shape, proof that whatever routine I’ve built has been working. Two things came back as flags: the under-eye area needed attention, and my face was reading as overheated, which tracked given I’d been walking a convention floor for hours in August.
It was a small, but it stuck with me. Not because the news was dramatic, but because it gave me something concrete to walk away with beyond a bag of products. It was an actual next step for my routine instead of just more things to add to it.
By the time I left the convention center, stamp card completed, goodie bag in hand, and a skin analysis, it had been a genuinely good day. Long line and all.
