San Diego Comic-Con is back, and if the first few hours of Preview Night are any indication, 2026 might end up being one of the more memorable years in recent SDCC history. This is the 55th year the convention has taken over the San Diego Convention Center, running July 23 through July 26, with roughly 135,000 people expected to pack the halls over four days. Every single badge sold out (same as every year) but this time around, the lineup of studios showing up feels different. More deliberate.
As I write this, half of the area near the convention center is set up (especially for Avengers: Doomsday). Preview Night ran 6 to 9 PM, which always feels like this weird appetizer before the real thing.
What We Know So Far
So let’s talk about why this year may feel different.
Marvel Studios is back in Hall H. That might not sound like a big deal if you don’t follow the yearly rhythm of this convention, but Marvel sat out 2025 entirely, and when the biggest studio in the room skips a year, people notice.
Then there’s Apple TV+, who’s never had a Hall H slot before, period. This is their debut, and they’re not being shy about it. They got a full two-hour block Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM, right before Marvel takes the stage. Two studios, back to back, one of them completely new to the biggest room at the convention. That’s not a coincidence, that’s a statement.
Let’s not forget the real reason for Marvel Studios: Avengers: Doomsday. The first full trailer dropped Monday, just two days before Preview Night even started. If you somehow haven’t seen it yet, definitely check it out HERE!
Saturday’s Hall H panel is expected to bring out the cast, on top of whatever else Marvel’s got tucked away for phase announcements. I’ve been following through headlines, but December 18 can’t come fast enough.
One thing worth mentioning if you’re following along from home, Hall H won’t be live-streamed this year. So it’s either be in that room, or wait on real-time coverage from people on the floor. There’s in-between.
Comic-Con just made it official. Mayor Todd Gloria announced outside Hall H that SDCC is staying in San Diego through 2030. There’d been the usual rumblings the last couple years about the convention outgrowing the city or eyeing a move, so hearing it confirmed, and hearing it announced right outside the room where all the biggest panels happen, felt like a genuinely good omen for the weekend.
What’s Planned for Today
Preview Night is really about two things: getting first crack at the exhibit hall and snagging exclusives before they’re gone by Thursday afternoon. And this year’s floor drops are already giving people a reason to skip dinner and just camp out at booths instead.
Her Universe is debuting an exclusive Ahsoka bag charm at the Lucasfilm Pavilion, booth #2913-0. Limited quantities, released daily, capped at two per transaction so if you want one, this isn’t a “swing by whenever” situation. Get there early or don’t get one at all.

Jada Toys is also leading their Preview Night drops over at booth #4049, with three pieces collectors are going to want to know about: a battle-damaged Invincible 1:12 scale figure pulled straight from one of the show’s more brutal moments, an Ultra Street Fighter II “You Lose” accessory set with swappable heads for all 19 characters, and an Akuma deluxe figure running $45.
And honestly? None of that is the thing I’m most excited about. That title goes a full Rick and Morty-themed attraction called the RAMbler over at Adult Swim. You walk in through a 26-foot Rick Sanchez head, get dropped into a dome wrapped in original animation, music, and lighting, and get spun through what’s basically an interdimensional fever dream. It’s set up at Fifth Avenue Landing, no badge required, so even if you didn’t get into the con this year, you can still walk up and experience it. I’ve been to a lot of these conventions, and I’m calling it now, this is the best attraction on-site this year, hands down.
If exclusives are the whole reason you’re here, my advice hasn’t changed in years. Decide on your top two or three must-haves before you walk the floor, because trying to “see everything first” is how you end up empty-handed on the stuff you actually wanted.
Wrapping Up Day Zero
So that’s Preview Night in a nutshell compared to what’s coming, but already loaded with signals about what this SDCC is going to be. Doomsday is clearly the movie everyone’s going to be talking about and the city just locked the con in through 2030, which honestly takes a little pressure off wondering if this whole thing has an expiration date.
If I’m being honest, the exclusives are fun, but they’re not why I’m here. It’s the little moments, experiences and the cosplay too.
Thursday’s going to be something different entirely. I’ll see you there.
