Hey everyone! If you missed Apple’s “Awe-dropping” event today, buckle up—I’m about to bring the hype (or try to). Apple didn’t just raise the bar—they launched a rocket past it. Let’s break it down:
⸻
iPhone 17 Lineup (Including the New “Air” Model)

iPhone 17, the everyday powerhouse

- It features the 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with ProMotion adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz, brighter than ever (up to 3,000 nits) and slimmer bezels—ideal for smooth scrolling and outdoor viewing
- The 18 MP Center Stage front camera uses a square sensor to automatically adjust to frame sizes without rotating your phone and include your friends in group selfies. On the back, it comes with a 48 MP Dual Fusion system (Main + Ultra Wide), with 24 MP default processing for a balance between detail and file size.
- This is powered by the A19 chip that delivers significant performance. The battery life stretches to 30 hours of video playback, plus Adaptive Power Mode in iOS 26 that learns your habits to optimize power.

Ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air

- This is Apple’s slimmest phone ever—just 5.6 mm thin. It’s light and packs the new A19 chip built for Apple Intelligence and stellar performance.
- There’s no physical SIM slot—exclusively eSIM to free up space for more battery or thinness. And yes, it’s drop-tested with Ceramic Shield front and back to prove it can survive the real world.
- Offers up to 27 hours of video playback, extendable to 40 hours with an optional $99 MagSafe battery accessory they offer.
- Even though it’s slim, it has a 48 MP Dual Fusion camera and 18 MP Center Stage front camera with Ultra-Stabilized and Dual Capture video.

iPhone 17 Pro (the creative beast)

AirPods Pro 3 – Noise Cancellation, Health, Translation & Fit

- Best Noise Cancelling Yet – Apple claims these deliver the “world’s best” ANC, doubling the performance of previous models using foam-infused tips and improved acoustics.
- Tiny Heart-Rate Sensor Inside – These are the first AirPods to get heart-rate tracking with infrared PPG—great for workouts and tracking calories when paired with your iPhone.

My opinion: I like the technology behind the headphones but it isn’t something I would get for myself.

Here’s What I’m Feeling + Recommendation
- Design forward and fluid functionality – Apple’s investing in aesthetics and utility—from ultra-thin phones to a UI that looks as good as it works. Trust me, I love the innovative UI design so this is something I appreciate as a designer.
- Health Gets Personal – Whether it’s your earbuds or your watch, Apple is weaving health tracking into gear you already use. We always need to focus on our health whether it’s the smallest to the largest thing. Making it easy to monitor is so important.
- More Power, Less Compromise – 5G on your wrist, 2× charging, insane battery life—Apple’s balancing performance with real-world usability. This is something that makes sense. Carriers would have to keep up.
- Language Barrier? Vanished. – Live translation across AirPods and Watch tools? We’re sliding into sci-fi territory here!
- How to get these a little cheaper would be to upgrade from whatever phone you currently have. If you have an iPhone 13 and up, you can get anywhere from $200-$800 off depending on your carrier. Make sure it’s in working condition and the more “like-new” it’s looks, the more value you get off.
- If you have an iPhone 15 or 16, you don’t really need to upgrade because the camera is a small upgrade unless you want a Pro Max or the Air and if the battery life is worth it to you.
- Also, if you aren’t a super creative or live tech or a photographer who’s into mobile photography, this is probably not what you need.
- I don’t buy Apple accessories unless I need it at the moment. You can get them on Amazon for cheaper and it’s more durable.
- If you like having a case on yours like I do, do not worry about the phone colors too much. It will drive you insane probably wouldn’t be as worth.
- Go for paying monthly because it would seem less costly mentally especially if you have a phone carrier, they are most likely offering deals.
