It’s September and it’s Suicide Prevention Month. I talk about depression, anxiety, and chronic illness but what I don’t talk about is my experience with self harm.
Self harm doesn’t always show up in bloodied cuts and physical harm. Sometimes it screams louder than the voices inside my head. From negative self talk, to depriving oneself, and always wondering if your worth it each day making you afraid of joy while convincing you that you deserve nothing in life.
I’ve always hid behind the masks of smiles, laughter, and strength camouflaged in the shadows of silence in the darkest corners of my mind.
Suicide impacts every common the planet. And yet, mental health care is not accessible or affordable for most people. Not even when I needed it.

That’s why every year I create a small fundraiser with TWLOHA that helps offers scholarships year-round to get people access to therapy and mental health care.
No matter what I go through, I never want anyone to feel that same pain either and to why I’m raising money to help provide 4,000+ hours of free therapy sessions for those who can’t afford professional mental health care.
Funds will also help support TWLOHA’s FIND HELP Tool, which connects people to local mental health resources in every zip code in the US.
- A gift of $25 connects 70 people to free and reduced-cost mental health resources in their local communities.
- A gift of $75 sponsors one 60-minute counseling session, allowing someone to sit with a therapist for the first time and begin healing.
