On February 13th, I went to see the evening showing of Captain America: Brave New World before its actual release on February 14th. It’s already tracking to earn $90M-$95M in its domestic box office opening weekend.
- Budget was $180M.
- Will be the biggest opening of 2025 so far?
- Potentially the 2nd highest opening for a ‘Captain America’ film.
For me, I was able to follow the story completely. I guess because I’ve been a big MCU and put 2 and 2 together from the previous movies.
For a some people, it left them with a lot of questions. First of all, this was essentially the sequel to The Incredible Hulk.
We now know what happened to Samual Sterns after his gamma exposure and Thaddeus Ross is paying for his crimes. However, everyone was wondering where was Bruce Banner in all this.
Also, the only thing I had a problem with is that they didn’t showcase all the genius that Samual Sterns has because in the comics, he was also known as the Leader and has threaten the world many, many times but in the movie he just really hates Ross.
When it comes to Red Hulk, in the comics, he actually retains all his intelligence making him much more ruthless and stronger. However, in Brave New World, he’s just as in rage as Banner was in the earlier years. So we expect to see the red hulk later in the MCU.
Let’s talk about the government agent Shira Haas’ Ruth Bat-Seraph that was by the side of President Ross. What was her purpose? She butts heads with Sam and friends at first, but eventually becomes an ally when she comes to understand the depth of the conspiracy she’s investigating. I’m really not convinced on why she was there.
Brave New World introduces a new super metal called Adamantium. It was discovered in the race to harvest the bounty of riches from Tiamut, and its purpose is to reshape the global balance of power. However, it’s the reason for various global powers to come to the brink of war. Right now, it’s an introduction and will have a greater purpose later in the MCU.
Will we get a new Avengers any time soon? Right now, no. Brave New World gives a hint of the idea of getting the Avengers back together. Ross pitches his thought to Sam. However, by the time Doomsday is released in 2026, the Avengers will start off from the bottom.
