The 2024 Anime Expo took place from July 4th to July 7th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This was the first year I was unable to attend in person. However, as with every year there were a host of fantastic anime announcements
Across all of its panels and events there were dozens of announcements to keep track of. I’ve gone through all of it and picked out the biggest and best announcements at Anime Expo 2024, and Crunchyroll really took the cake with their set of announcements.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 Release Date
Bleach is in a huge renaissance right now, thanks to Thousand-Year Blood War, the final saga of the story that was never animated back when the series was first being adapted. The third part of Thousand-Year Blood War is coming this year, in October. The full 2-minute trailer was show at Anime Expo and it’s absolutely incredible. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 – The Conflict is coming to Disney+ and Hulu in October 2024.
TRIGUN STAMPEDE Anime’s “Final Phase” Is Officially Announced
The official accounts for TRIGUN STAMPEDE announced that the anime’s “Final Phase” is coming soon. A return date for the series was not announced yet. However, Crunchyroll confirms that the continuation of TRIGUN STAMPEDE will stream on the service when it returns.
Blue Exorcist -Beyond the Snow Saga (Anime) – The Blue Night Saga- Announced for January 2025
At the Blue Exorcist Special Event at Anime Expo 2024, Aniplex of America released the new trailer and key visual for the upcoming arc and announced another new arc, The Blue Night Saga, in January 2025.
Each saga is scheduled to air back-to-back. The new –Beyond the Snow Saga– trailer was also announced and that Reol will perform the opening theme “RE RESCUE.” Both arcs will also stream on Crunchyroll as they air in Japan.
Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE Anime to Stream on Crunchyroll
Announced at Crunchyroll’s Anime Expo 2024 industry panel, Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE, the fourth season will officially stream on Crunchyroll upon the series’ return, promising more discoveries from Senku Ishigami and the Kingdom of Science. Release date is coming soon but I’m super excited for this since I’ve been following this series since its first release in 2019.
Black Butler season five will debut in 2025.
Black Butler: Emerald Witch arc is in the works, and it is set to debut in 2025. This update comes from Crunchyroll at Anime Expo.
BONUS: RWBY Acquired by Viz Media, New Content in the Works
The co-creator of RWBY, Kerry Shawcross, stated the following when it came to RWBY x Viz Media, “As you can tell, this is a huge opportunity to grow our audience and expand into the future. In talking with VIZ, they’re also very excited about this. They obviously care about where the show is now, but they also care about where the show came from. And they want to make sure that we can continue this story. We are currently in talks with them (Viz Media) about RWBY’s future, and we’re very hopeful for what’s to come for this beloved series.”
