What is a Fibro flare up anyway?

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at 27. Managing this plays a big role in being able to live comfortably. This includes flare ups of every kind.

Symptoms of Fibromyalgia vary over time and these are times when the pain will feel worse than ever and difficult to deal with. Symptoms includes digestive problems, swelling in the limbs, numbness and tingling. These flare up can range from a few days to a few weeks.

Many people don’t realize that in addition to the chronic, widespread pain, major symptoms of the disorder include “moderate to severe fatigue, sleep disorders and disturbances and problems with cognitive functioning and memory.

There are some common and well-known triggers to a Fibro flare up.

  • daily schedule
  • sleep
  • External temperature
  • Hormones
  • Physical & psychological stress
  • A persons diet

For someone like — me, it the stress and hormones and it ends up cause me great fatigue. I’m in tension pain all the time and if I give into it then I do nothing. I wish I had a way to explain it better but even with a fibromyalgia flare up, the world doesn’t stop turning.
