Kindness All Day, Every Day

Kindness (noun): the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate; a kind act.

— English Oxford Living Dictionaries

If there’s one thing I’m all about, it’s kindness. As you may know, my goal while I’m loving on this Earth is to change the world with kind words & design. If you’re going through something right now, there may be a simple fix to make things look a little bit brighter. Science shows that being kind to others benefits us, too. And who can dispute science? (Don’t answer that) 😜

Though people often overlook kindness in day-to-day life, it can have long-lasting effects on the giver and the world around them. Giving to others, literally or figuratively, helps increase our well-being. When we help those around us, positive emotions erupt within, overshadowing any negative feelings. The positive emotions erupting within is the “Helper’s High” – the phenomenon of our brain’s pleasure and reward centers lighting up. Not only that, but kindness increases our serotonin, calming us down, healing our wounds, and bringing us joy.

Acts of kindness, big or small, can positively affect both the person being helped and the helper. Think about the Grinch and how his heart tripled in size when he returned the gifts and saw the joy he caused! While you may not be a furry & green, when you’re kind to others, research has found that it really makes your heart swell!

Anyone can be nice but it takes a certain kind of good-heart to be kind deep down.
